  Back Pressure Valves

Back Pressure Valves enable efficient air removal through the Air Eliminator in a pump operated metering system.Download Literature in pdf format.

DESIGN FEATURES

  • Rugged construction.
  • Self actuated spring loaded design.
  • Bubble tight shut-off.
  • Suitable for a wide range of liquids viscosities.

PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION

A Back Pressure Valve is always fitted downstream of the Flow Meter. It consists of a housing with a spring loaded valve having a soft seal. The valve is designed to remain open on a pre-determined system operating pressure without providing any resistance to liquid flow. In a typical liquid metering system using a centrifugal pump, air can get sucked into the system, especially towards the end of the delivery when the liquid supply tank is about to get empty.

Due to the presence of air in the pump system, the pressure falls down & when this fall in pressure becomes less than the minimum design pressure of the Back Pressure Valve it starts to close. This forces the air to escape through the Air Eliminator to ensure metering accuracy. As soon as the liquid supply is restored, the Back Pressure Valve automatically opens fully to enable normal metering operation.
