Slow Close Valves enable a smooth, quick & accurate control of liquid delivery through the Flow Meter. It also prevents the equipment from being subjected to line shock during opening & closing of the valve.
DESIGN FEATURES
Low pressure drop.
Accurate bubble tight shut-off.
Easy pilot operation with least manual effort.
Bi-directional operation.
PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION
The Slow Close Valve consists of a pilot & main valve assembly & a valve operating handle mechanism. Before starting, the pilot valve cover bleed screw is kept partially unscrewed to bleed air & is subsequently tightened when air bubbles disappear. When the handle is manually lifted & locked in the notch plate at full open position, the pilot valve lifts up to allow draining of liquid in the main valve. This creates a differential pressure across the main valve & lifts it up to allow liquid flow.
The pilot valve allows more or less liquid to flow past its seat in relation to the flow through the main valve, thereby keeping it constantly modulating & open. Lifting of pilot valve also moves up an attached piston in a dash pot to force the liquid out through an orifice, providing a damping effect as well as valve opening & closing rate control. When the handle is disengaged from the full open position to the close position, the pilot valve gets pushed down to close the pilot valve orifice. The main valve gets filled with pressurised liquid & forced down to stop the liquid flow. The rubber bonded seal fitted on the main valve ensures a bubble tight shut-off. The bi-directional flow design of the Slow Close Valve enables it to operate in either flow direction.
